If a riddle is particularly difficult, it is not uncommon to see a group of Ravenclaws congregate outside the door and attempt to solve it together. The knocker will ask the student a question in the form of a riddle and will not open until it is answered correctly. Students can enter the common room by knocking on the bronze eagle-shaped door knocker. The Ravenclaw common room is located in Ravenclaw tower, one of the three tallest towers of Hogwarts castle. Ravenclaws are most noted for their intelligence, but also their acceptance of unique quirks and eccentricities. Ravenclaws value wisdom, creativity, cleverness, wit, individuality, and innovation. Ravenclaw’s official house mascot is an eagle, and its house colors are blue and bronze. The Ravenclaw house was founded by Rowena Ravenclaw, one of the original founders of Hogwarts. Some of the more well known features of the grounds include a loch known as the Black Lake, the Whomping Willow, and the Forbidden Forest, along with manmade structures such as a full-size Quidditch pitch, multiple greenhouses and other outbuildings, and vegetable patches.
